  • Welcome to our blog!

It seems crazy. Ten years ago Clint and I had just gotten married, and we were so young and carefree. It was just the two of us and life was pretty easy. The house stayed (reasonably) clean, we went out when we wanted, and traveled to some pretty incredible places. We didn't have a whole lot of responsibility, pretty much just to ourselves.

Fast forward to 2014 and we now have three miniature versions of ourselves, two girls and a boy in the middle. Hayley is six and is as spunky and prissy as can be. Colin is almost five and is the nuttiest little thing imaginable, but oh so sweet. And Sydney, our littlest, thinks she's six and is already the comedian in the family. Despite our kiddos being so little, they not only now outnumber us, but they have managed to turn our world upside down. But we wouldn't have it any other way. We love 'em to pieces!

The blog is filled with the weekly happenings within the Stuckey family, some funny, some touching, and some a little zany and crazy. Life is definitely better with kids in it! We love ours to pieces. Images + Words = Memories.

Look Who’s Riding a Bike!

Just after Hayley’s fifth birthday her daddy taught her how to ride a bike!  Actually, she probably would have learned sooner . . . but Santa goofed up and put a 12 inch bike under the tree, which was clearly too small for her.  What was Santa thinking?!?!  I know!!!  So for her 5th birthday, we upgraded her to a 16 inch bike and took her outside on a Saturday afternoon. Clint popped off the training wheels and in about 45 minutes Hayley girl was riding a bike.  Now there was a whole lot of zig-zagging back and forth, but she was doing it!  She was really doing it!  The next day, Clint took Hayley to the neighborhood high school and right away she started riding five minutes at a time.  She was doing awesome!!!! Now I know where the expression “it’s like riding a bike” came from.  Easy peasy!

That was a great surprise when we came over and she showed us she could ride a bike without training wheels. What a big girl!

Our Two Little Nuts

These past few weeks I have been up to my ears in spring cleaning.  I’ve been going room to room organizing and throwing things away.  It’s been pretty cathartic.  In the midst of cleaning last Tuesday night realized, WOW, it’s almost 9:00pm!  Where are the kids?!  I haven’t even put them to bed.  “Hayley, Colin, where are you?!”  I searched the house . . . and then found them curled up in our laundry baskets, jammies already on, playing with their “iPads.”  Do I put them to bed . . . or do I keep cleaning?!?  Ah, what to do?!  I couldn’t help but grab my camera.  So, did I cave into temptation?!  Well, sort of.  They begged to sleep in the laundry baskets that night (they are truly little nuts).  I said no to that, but they did get to stay up for another 20 minutes. :o)

That’s too cute!

All the Pretty Horses

This April was Hayley’s Spring ballet recital.  I think I was just as excited as she was.  I’ve always dreamt of having a little girl all dolled up in a pink tutu that loved to dance.  And now she was performing in her first real dance recital.  It was pretty surreal.  She looked beautiful!  Her dance class performed a number to the lullaby, All the Pretty Horses.  Unfortunately, cameras were not allowed in the auditorium, but I did manage to sneak backstage and catch a few pictures of Hayley just before she went on stage.  I walked in just as Hayley and her best friend Haylee started twirling around the room together.  They are so cute together!  Hayley we love you!  You danced beautifully that day!

What cute pictures of them backstage! Good job mom! Boo to the dance studio who won’t let parents (and grandparents) take pictures at the dance recital.

Splash Days 2012!

Each year on Splash Days Hayley and Colin’s preschool gets transformed into a miniature water park.  The kids get to come to school dressed in their swimsuits and splash around in five or so kiddie pools along with an inflatable waterside, slip and slide, bubbles, washable paint, water soakers, and anything else water related the staff can think of.  Hayley and Colin LOVED it!!!!  They had so much fun!!!  If only every day were Splash Day!
