My Blog bio picture
  • Welcome to our blog!

It seems crazy. Ten years ago Clint and I had just gotten married, and we were so young and carefree. It was just the two of us and life was pretty easy. The house stayed (reasonably) clean, we went out when we wanted, and traveled to some pretty incredible places. We didn't have a whole lot of responsibility, pretty much just to ourselves.

Fast forward to 2014 and we now have three miniature versions of ourselves, two girls and a boy in the middle. Hayley is six and is as spunky and prissy as can be. Colin is almost five and is the nuttiest little thing imaginable, but oh so sweet. And Sydney, our littlest, thinks she's six and is already the comedian in the family. Despite our kiddos being so little, they not only now outnumber us, but they have managed to turn our world upside down. But we wouldn't have it any other way. We love 'em to pieces!

The blog is filled with the weekly happenings within the Stuckey family, some funny, some touching, and some a little zany and crazy. Life is definitely better with kids in it! We love ours to pieces. Images + Words = Memories.

Las Vegas Day 3: Playing in the Snow, Cafe Rio, Las Vegas Town Square

Monday was a day like no other.  I will never forget the surreal moment of leaving Las Vegas and driving through a barren desert filled with little more than cacti and scrub brush.  As we approached the mountain ahead, we rounded the corner, I blinked once, and then all of the sudden we were in Colorado in winter.  Suddenly, the world around us was a winter wonderland filled with snow and pine trees.  Ten seconds earlier we were in the middle of a desert.  It still doesn’t make sense.  My mind is still trying to wrap my head around what had just happened.

The kids didn’t quite grasp the mystery of it all.  They were just SO excited to play in the snow!!  We found a patch of snow and a hill, and that was good enough for us!  The kids had SO much fun sliding down the hill, throwing snow at each other, and getting completely soaked.  We climbed back into the car an hour later looking like tired, wet rats, but we all had fun!  And exiting the winter wonderland was just as trippy as coming in!

Las Vegas March 2017 Day 3 Snow

Could the day get any better than playing in the snow in the middle of March!?  The answer is yes it could and yes it did!  Our next step was Cafe Rio!  I was savoring every bite and was completely baffled why half our crew went next door to Grimaldi’s.  After Cafe Rio we snuck on over to Las Vegas Town Square to let the kids play.  I felt like I was back in California.  Town Square is so gorgeous with all the palm trees, Mission style architecture, and wide open spaces.  The kids had so much fun . . . perhaps a little too much fun!  Between sneaking in cookies and lemonade, Sydney scaling the hedges, and the kids turning the playground into their own personal gymnastics arena, we almost got kicked out.  Time to ride the train!!

All aboard!  How can you not love a train that makes the same three minute loop three times in a row?!  Phew, I’m beat!  Luckily, we passed by the candy store not one, but three times!  The kids knew exactly how to get there.  My Dad was so sweet for buying our kids enough candy to last them until Halloween!  We had Papa Murphy’s pizza for dinner and then the four of us headed back to the Springhill Suites.  Yep, you heard that right, just four of us.  Hayley and Sydney got to spend the night at Grandpa Bobby and Grandma Chris’s house.  They had tons of fun and felt so very special.

Las Vegas Day 2: Church, Hand Imprints, and Mermaids

On Sunday morning we attempted the near impossible . . . going to church with four crazy kiddos who just wanted to play all while getting bombarded with showing phone calls every ten minutes.  It certainly wasn’t our finest moment in Sacrament, but everyone survived.

When we got back to my dad and Chris’s house, it was finally the moment everyone had been waiting for, the meet and greet with Rocky and Jazzy.  The dogs suddenly became little celebrities with an entourage of exactly four nutty kids ready to entertain.  Keaton was curious, Hayley was excited, Colin was chill as a cucumber, but Sydney was completely star struck. “Jazzy, Jazzy, Jazzy!!  I cannot get enough of Jazzy!!  I LOVE Jazzy!!”

While Sydney terrorized, I mean “played with” Jazzy, Hayley helped Grandma Chris cook a gourmet lunch/dinner.  The roast and potatoes were amazing, and Colin and Sydney were so grateful to have macaroni & cheese to go along with it.  The chocolate cream pie topped everything off!  That afternoon the kids picked oranges with Grandpa Bobby, made hand imprints out of concrete, and took Jazzy and Sassy on a walk with Grandma Chris.

Later that afternoon my dad and I took Hayley, Sydney, and Keaton on an adventure that is only told in legends.  We were on a search for mermaids!  Do mermaids really exist or do they merely live in legend and folklore?  Well, all five of us saw two live mermaids that day!  Of all places, they were swimming inside a fish tank at the Silverton Casino.  Sydney even got a close-up look at one of the mermaids when the mermaid swam right down next to her, waved, and blew her a kiss.

By this time we were all getting hungry, and lucky for us there was a Johnny Rockets on site!  Bring on the french fries, chicken nuggets, and chocolate milkshakes!  It was here that my dad discovered that his daughter and granddaughters had been studying mentalism and were able to manipulate straws with their minds!  Lucky for him, we let him in in our little secret.

Las Vegas: Day 1 (Flying and Seeing Grandpa Bobby & Grandma Chris)

We had such an amazing time visiting my dad and Chris in Las Vegas!  The kids were SO excited to come and could hardly sit still on the flight!!  Luckily, Keaton slept and Sydney kept herself occupied with pretzels and apple juice.  She called this her “great idea” (which was basically using the apple juice straw as a pretzel holder).  Seems pretty genius to me!  Hayley and Colin had iPads.:)

When our kids got off the airplane they knew just what to do, head for the slots!  Just as they were about to put their quarters into the slot machine and help us retire 20 years early, we got caught by security.  I feigned ignorance and pretended I had no idea what was going on.  Don’t worry.  We still had five days for one of us to strike it rich!

My dad pulled out the pretend red carpet when we arrived to the baggage terminal.   When you see a person holding a sign with your name in bold pink and blue lettering at baggage claim, you know you’ve arrived.  You must be someone important.  After all the hugs and kisses, my dad asked, “So what should we do now?”  It was only 9pm Vegas time, but 11pm Houston time.  “Sleep!  Let the kids sleep.” Lol.  They wanted nothing of the sort, but we eventually got them to bed at the Springhill Suites!

Colin’s Second Grade Musical: Go Fish!

Colin’s second grade musical was probably the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my life!!  I was literally beaming from ear to ear watching Colin perform on stage.  He was the cutest little clown fish ever!!  And Colin got SO into it too!  He was dancing with so much energy that I thought he might fall off the stage.  Lol.  It was darling!  Colin was one of the few kids that actually had some lines, and he said them perfectly!!  I’m SO proud of my little clown fish!
